Waiting | MV Production Blog

Image
Once we wrapped up filming, I eagerly moved on to the editing phase. Using Tantou's camera, I began to sift through the footage, selecting the best takes and piecing them together. The editing process is where the magic happens, and I was excited to see our project take shape. In addition to arranging the clips, I worked on adding music, sound effects, and special visual effects to enhance the video's impact. This stage required careful attention to detail, but it was incredibly satisfying to see our vision come to life on the screen.

The Last Scene | MV Production

When we wrapped up the scene at the apartment, Tantou, Justin, and I headed to my house to shoot the final outdoor scene. Before we started filming that last part, we decided to take a short bike ride around my neighborhood. It was a fun and quick ride. After our bike ride, we got right into filming the last scene outside my house. We did it swiftly to make sure everyone could go home soon. We wanted to finish the project efficiently, and everyone was ready to wrap up for the day. The filming process had been exciting, and we were glad to be near the end. Tantou, Justin, and I worked well together, and it was a satisfying experience to see our project come together.

The First Scene | MV Production

Image
On the first day of filming, Tantou and I got everything we needed prepared at her apartment a few hours early just in case. We cleaned the kitchen and put some props on the counter to make it look lived in. I practiced a bit more with the camera and then we got McDonalds.     After eating, we went downstairs to get Justin, the guy that would be playing as the boyfriend in the music video. We chose to have him play the part because of a shared interest in film and media.     It was awkward at first, but we eventually all got over it and started filming. I was the one filming, while Tantou helped and acted at the same time.      Although our Music Video isn't going to have any dialogue, they were yelling pretty loudly, and I was worried they were going to disturb the neighbors in the building. Luckily, nobody said anything, so I'm pretty sure they couldn't hear the argument.

Tantou and I made a plan to meet before we start filming. We chose a day for me to come over to her apartment and learn how the camera works because I can't make a video without knowing the basics. It took some time, but eventually, I grasped the basic functions of the camera. Once I understood the camera, Tantou and I stayed indoors and chatted about our project some more. We wanted to have a clearer picture of what we were doing and how we would do it. We discussed our ideas, the scenes we wanted to create, and the emotions we aimed to convey through our video. It was a useful conversation to get on the same page. We also talked about who would play the boyfriend in the video and confirmed that they were still on board. We were both enthusiastic about the project and hoped everything would go smoothly when we started filming. The preparations were vital to ensure our video turned out well, and we were eager to bring our ideas to life.

Me and Tantou both planned very ahead on how to start our music video, and were very adamant on getting started as soon as possible. She told me a bit about the technology she had and how to use it. We didn't get to film yet unfortunately, as I still don't fully understand how the camera she has is supposed to work     Even though we haven't started filming yet, we already have an idea on who would play the boyfriend in the music video, and they've agreed to it. Hopefully, these plans will stay on track for when we actually start to film.      We've discussed the scenes we want to capture and the emotions we aim to convey through the video. Our dedication to making it a great production is evident, and we're excited to see our vision come to life. While we haven't had the opportunity to shoot yet, the planning stage has been an essential part of our creative journey, and we're both looking forward to bringing our ideas to life.

Storyboard for Music Video

Image
OVERVIEW: Doing this storyboard with Tantou was very fun, as I sort of enjoy drawing a little bit. Even though I was only making stick figures, it was really fun creating a visual for how we want this to look and being able to actually see it. BREAKDOWN:     SCENE 1 - The boyfriend and girlfriend are loudly yelling at each other and visible fighting. However, no dialogue is heard over the music.  She eventually walks out, irritated by him and the argument.      SCENE 2  - In the car, the boyfriend is driving angrily, and is tracking the girlfriend's location on his phone.      SCENE 3  - He arrives to a house and sees her talking with another man. Angered, he bangs on the door and she comes out yelling. They argue outside the house and she threatens him with her keys, the argument is obviously aggressive. With the keys, she holds them against the car, threatening to key the car.      SCENE 4  - They're both in the car as he's driving. They aren't speaking to one anothe

The storyline behind our music video is a couple that is just not made for each other. They’re both instigators, stubborn, and act before they think. This couple would constantly try to get back at each other, see other people, and overall are just not a good fit. However, like most toxic couples, they would end up back together and in the end, the cycle will just continue.      In order to make the house we want to use feel more lived in, we want to use lots of props for our “set”. These include things like keys for one of our characters to drive, a phone for one of our scenes, and more. We don’t want to have anything crazy in our music video, just regular old household items you’d find in any other apartment. Since the girl’s taking her stuff and leaving, we’re imagining her walking out with a purse maybe.      Obviously, neither of us are guys, and we need one for the video. We have friends that could help us out, and in the worst case scenario, we can still portray the toxic

Here With Me (d4vd): This song is very, very similar to the song we're doing. It portrays a love story, but not a twisted one like the other two music videos. Had lots of B-rolls to foreshadow the couple’s lives and their eventual deaths. Cool-toned lighting with lots of neutrals, not a lot of warmth. The setting was very romantic, and also very realistic. It’s not a fancy set, but more so a setting this story could actually take place in. SHE (Tyler The Creator & Frank Ocean): This music video talks about a very obsessed type of love, and portrays it in many ways. The genre itself is not exact, but similar to the genre of our song. L ots of close ups + two shots throughout the video emphasize the dialogue between the characters so the audience can follow through the storyline. Low angels while following the characters to express changing of scenes and location to show perspective of each of owns mind Acting is very adolescent + satire to mimic sitcoms. The video is very unser

The decision of who I was working with for this project was made almost immediately. There was no way I was doing this on my own, that's why I decided to work with my best friend Tantou Kebe.     Although she's my friend, this isn't the only reason I chose to work with her. Me and her are close because of our shared aspirations and likes. Media is both of our passions and we plan to put our all into this project. I know she's ambitious about this, and so am I, that's why I believe she's just the perfect person to do this project with.     Me and Tantou are both very eager about this, and she has a lot of the technical equipment that we can use for our short music video. With our passion and the tools we need, we're both very excited about this project and working on it.     Throughout class, we spent a lot of time going back and forth on what song we wanted to do and what the story behind it will be. After thinking hard and running out of class time, we

Introduction to Music Video

Image
After my last project, I'm very excited for the places I can reach with this one. I'm super hyped about everything I can do and the creativity I can put into this upcoming music video project.      This sort of thing is my absolute dream as a career, and I'm very happy about getting this small little trial of what it might look like if I do decide to pursue it.        When you write, you need to be aware of yourself, others, how people write, their cultures, and why they communicate the way they do. It's all about noticing tiny details, and those details help you understand people better and create your characters. These are some things I want to understand when creating my music video to properly portray the people in it.      Sadly, no one can fully introduce themselves in a blog, or anywhere else for that matter. Understanding someone completely is just impossible, no matter how aware you are.      While I admire positive traits, I also appreciate negative one
