Commercial Reflection

Image
As a person who aspires to work in media and production for the future, this project was so incredibly fun for me to do. When I first heard about this project, I thought it wouldn't be hard at all, and that I definitely knew everything I had to do. However, as I was creating my commercial, I realized there's much more than I thought, and that's just the basics!     From all the new stuff I've seen just from this commercial alone, I am very excited for the other projects I'll do, and more material I'll learn in this class. The future of this course looks bright and fun!     Personally, I feel as filming was the hardest part. It was so annoying trying to find good lighting, that I only really filmed a small part of my commercial. Either way, I improvised and game more of an older and nostalgic feel to my production with the filters and colors I added. I honestly like how it turned out, and I feel as if the nostalgic vibe gives a little insight to my life and a

My All About Me Commercial! This was so fun to make for my first project!

I was so relieved when I finally finished filming all the scenes I needed in order to produce my commercial.  After completing the filming, I decided to take a day off from thinking about the project. It was a much-needed break, and I spent it doing things I enjoy. Now, let's dive into the editing part. I've got a ton of footage, and it's essentially a puzzle that needs to be pieced together. When editing it, I tried to play around with some filters, color adjustments, and transitions to create my commercial, and I think it's coming out to be pretty okay honestly. While I was filming, something funny happened. My dog ran towards me and I dropped my phone mid-filming! Thankfully this didn't break my phone or disrupt anything, so I'll probably just edit that part out. It's been hard trying to work around the editing software I'm using since I'm pretty new to it. Even though this is new, I have some experience with more simpler editing apps, so I know

I'm really excited because I'm almost done with filming my commercial project! I just need to shoot a few more scenes, and then I'll be ready to start editing.  Speaking of editing, I've started messing around with it, even though I haven't finished filming. It's been fun to get a sneak peek of what the final commercial might look like. Doing this has made me even more excited to finish the project. This whole journey of making the commercial has been quite a ride. I've been carefully planning and shooting each scene, and it's awesome to see it all coming together. With just a few scenes left to shoot, I'm almost there. I've been really focused on making sure each scene turns out just right, keeping in mind how it'll look in the final product. It's been a lot of work, but I'm looking forward to putting it all together in the editing process. Speaking of editing, I've started messing around with it, even though I haven't fi

I've been really busy working on my next commercial for the past few days. It's been a bit exhausting, especially since I've had other classwork to juggle, but I've been putting in a lot of effort to gather a variety of pictures that will help me with the filming part of the project. I've collected a bunch of images and video clips that will form the foundation of my advertisement. Most of these clips don't have any sound right now, but I'll be adding sound during the editing process. When I edit, I plan to include voiceovers, music, and more. At the moment, I'm just filming without worrying too much about the sound because I know I can fix that later when I'm editing. By the way, there was a little scare when I accidentally dropped my camera on the kitchen floor while filming a scene. Luckily, it didn't break, but it definitely got me a bit concerned. Next time, I'll just have to be more careful when I film the rest of my project. I've b

To kick off the production of my commercial, I began finding outfits to portray different parts of personalities and different styles. I began using Google Docs in order to write a sequence of what I want to happen and when. I personally find Google Docs to be very simple and easy to use over Microsoft. I've been typing out what sort of shots I want and why I want them. For example, I've typed out a shot of me doing my homework or doing something productive, followed by me doing something unproductive.     Along with just writing how my commercial is going to look, I've been going through my dad's older cameras to find a good one to film with. Worst case scenario, I can just use my phone to record everything. Lighting is important, so I've been playing around with different light colors I have and seeing what lamps I can use to recreate good lighting.      I've been looking for props around my house that I can use, and different photos of my childhood for

What do Colors Mean? | Research Blog

When planning how I want to layout my commercial about me, I want to portray many different sides of my personality, style, interests, moods, and more. To show this, I've been looking for different music to use for each part of who I am. Along with that, I've been looking more into what colors represent in film/media in order to showcase different emotions and meanings for the audience. While color does a lot in media, I know it's not the only way to convey certain things, that's why I've been researching camera angles. Certain shots can make the subject feel bigger or smaller, which is what I want to use in my commercial for certain small clips.      I want to show my likes and dislikes, however I don't want to explicitly say "I like dogs." Instead, I want to show it with visuals throughout the commercial for my interests. In order to achieve this, my commercial will have a few videos of my dogs, or a clip of making tacos, maybe even another shot

How to Introduce Someone

Awareness and creativity are some of the most admirable traits to me, especially as an aspiring writer and director. You cannot write without being aware of yourself and others, the way people write, their cultures, how they speak, why they speak, it’s all awareness in small details, and those details is how you can learn so much about people and write your characters. Unfortunately, I can’t fully introduce myself in a blog, nobody can. It’s impossible to fully understand someone no matter how aware you are. While I look up to these traits, I also appreciate negative traits such as anger and pessimism, and I like them because they create people and design them the way they are. Without any of these negative traits, our world could never come to be.  One day I can be simplistic. I enjoy writing, I want to be a director, I love the color pink, I want to experience school in New York, and more details. I love tacos and white chocolate hersheys, I’m not a fan of sports and I hold my pencil
