What do Colors Mean? | Research Blog

When planning how I want to layout my commercial about me, I want to portray many different sides of my personality, style, interests, moods, and more. To show this, I've been looking for different music to use for each part of who I am. Along with that, I've been looking more into what colors represent in film/media in order to showcase different emotions and meanings for the audience. While color does a lot in media, I know it's not the only way to convey certain things, that's why I've been researching camera angles. Certain shots can make the subject feel bigger or smaller, which is what I want to use in my commercial for certain small clips.

I want to show my likes and dislikes, however I don't want to explicitly say "I like dogs." Instead, I want to show it with visuals throughout the commercial for my interests. In order to achieve this, my commercial will have a few videos of my dogs, or a clip of making tacos, maybe even another shot of me writing something down. I want this commercial to show both my responsible moments and my irresponsible moments. I want it to show my more calm and serene moments, but also show that I am not always calm, and how great that is. I plan on using color to convey my love and admiration for different emotions and what I think about life.

For the beginning, I plan to start out with how confused I was as a little girl, and how much it bothered me being inconsistent and not fitting into a single version of someone, trying all different things and changing myself to see where I belonged like most young people do. With this, I've been going through old videos I used to take of my and my friends, and all the activities I've tried and didn't succeed in, for the short commercial to eventually flow into how I've become more sure of myself and how many forms of a person is just how being human is.
